Elvin Mattson of Springfield, Ohio passed on November 14, 2016. Elvin was born January 24, 1922 to the late Alvin and Cleo Anderson Mattson in Chicago IL. He was a member of the Maplewood Church of the Nazarene and formerly a member of Story-Hypes United Methodist Church. Elvin served in the United State Army during WWII in the European Theater. He was married to Margaret Jean Brooks for 10 years and was preceded in death by his first wife of 59 years, Margaret Fisher Mattson.
He is survived by his wife, one son Lewis (Jannis) Mattson of The Colony TX, two daughters Connie (Earl) Joos of Springfield, Debora (Dick) Magnuson of Lancaster, Step-daughters Wilma (James) Chadwell of Springfield, Diane (Mort) Humphreys of St. Paris and Sonya (Don) Staker of Springfield and numerous Grandchildren, Great-grandchildren and Great-Great grandchildren.
Elvin was preceded in death by two step-Daughters, Dawn Mitchell and Rhonda Garten.
Funeral services will be held at Morrow Funeral Home in Jeffersonville, Ohio on Friday, November 18, 2016 at 1:00pm with Pastor Tom Knauff officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, November 18,2016 from 11:00am until time of service. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery with military honors.In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Maplewood Church of the Nazarene, 110 Lawnview Avenue, Springfield, Ohio.
