Larry Lee Jennings was born October 15, 1945 in Greenfield, Ohio, the second son of Hartford Jennings and Elizabeth Lavon Terry Jennings. He was raised in a household that included his parents, sister Harriette, brother Terry, and niece Laurel. His spiritual training took place at Shiloh Baptist Church in Greenfield. He attended the Greenfield public schools, graduating from Edward Lee McClain High School in the Class of 1963. He played football, ran track, and was manager of the varsity basketball team in high school. Michigan State University recruited him because of his high grades.

He studied at the Ohio State University and at Central State University. He became a member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.

Larry worked in retail sales and as a bank examiner before settling into a career at BMW Financial Services, from which he retired in 2016.

He was an avid sports fan, rooting for the Ohio State Buckeyes and Cleveland Browns football teams.

Larry loved to travel, often by road. He was always ready to undertake a trip to South Carolina; Florida; Washington, DC; Michigan; or even California to visit friends and family or just to relax and have fun.

Larry valued family. He was a frequent participant in reunions of the Jones-Foster Family and the Jennings Family. He was always ready to advise and encourage not only his five children and those of his brother and niece, but other youth who were not blood relations.

Larry was predeceased by his parents and sister Harriette Jennings Smith. He is survived by five children: John Clark of Dayton, Ohio; Angela Butler Jackson of Columbus, Ohio; Michael Nan (Felicia) of Sacramento, California; Chantal Nan Harms (Justin) of Fortuna, California; and Phillip Hartford Nan of Sacramento, California; several grandchildren; his brother Hartford Terry Jennings, Sr. (Sharon) of Columbia, Maryland; his niece Laurel Jennings Love (Houston) of Lorain, Ohio; and a host of other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 23 at 6:00 p.m at Second Baptist Church in Washington Court House, Ohio. It will be preceded by a family hour from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and followed by a repast for family and friends.
