Norman D Coe

August 22, 1936 ~ August 19, 2017 (age 80)

August 22, 1936 -- August 19, 2017

NORMAN DALE COE was born to Cleon Clyde and Sarah Lois Yeoman Coe on August 22, 1936. He was the second of two sons born to Cleon and Lois, following brother William David who was born three years earlier. Dale was preceded in death by his parents. Survived by wife Barbara Jean Blackmon Coe; brother, William (Edith); and nieces: Kimberly Wolfe, Kinita Coe, & Shelby Hewitt; and nephews: David Wolfe, Jason Wolfe, Spencer Hewitt, & Jackson Mellema; brother-in-law Jimmie Blackmon; step-son Jay Watson (Sandra); step-grandsons Brandon and Chris Watson, and two step-great granddaughters.

Dale was born in Fayette County, Ohio. He started life while in a playpen in his parents’ country general merchandise store. As he developed, he performed many of the chores and duties of a 1940’s-era small store.

He attended the two-room Bookwalter Elementary School for the first eight years of education from 1942 to 1950. The next phase was to attend the Jeffersonville High School for four years, during which he was on several sports teams. He graduated with the Class of 1954. After high school, he attended college for a brief period. Then he served six months active duty in the U.S. Army and 5 1/2 years in the Army Reserves.

Dale and his wife Barbara Jean Blackmon lived in Hawthorne, California for 45 years. Dale worked for the Boeing Aircraft and Aerospace Company. where he was a machinist. Some of his jobs included working on the Columbia Shuttle, other spacecraft, and the B-1 Bomber. He was an avid skeet shooter and was a Life Member of the National Rifle Association.

On August 19, 2017, Dale suffered congestive heart failure and went quickly into the Great Beyond -- to whence we all must go and from whence we will never return, but instead will meet there in everlasting peace. The time was 8:00 AM on that Saturday when the Master called, having allowed him 80 years, 11 months, and 28 days of good life on this small stopping place of inspection for greater things to come.

Events took Dale from Ohio for much of his life. He will return to Fairview Cemetery in Jeffersonville, Fayette County, Ohio, to rest in peace near his parents. Arrangements will be by the Morrow Funeral Home at 41 South Main St, Jeffersonville. Visitation will be at the funeral home at 10:30 AM. A graveside funeral service will then be offered by Reverend Tom Knauff at 11:30 AM, Wednesday, August 30, 2017.
