Betty Steen

Betty Steen, 82 passed away peacefully on Jan 31, 2024, at 1232 AM with her daughters by her side. She was born in Harlan Co. KY May 29, 1941, to the late Charlie and June Banks Cornette. She was extremely proud of her Kentucky Heritage and Cherokee Indian background. She was happily married for 62 years to Roger until his death in 2022. Together they had a wonderful family they were very proud of. She lived a lifeof never working outside the home, but in the home every day, taking pride in Cleaning ever Mon and Thurs religiously and every other day looking for things to clean. She enjoyed Gardening, canning all summer, sitting on the front porch with a cold Pepsi and cigarette. She loved her girls and grandkids more than life itself; she would go above and beyond to see they had anything and everything they wanted. She was a wonderful cook and extremely good baker.

Betty is preceded by her husband Roger, In laws Frank and Alice Steen, her parents, brother Ray Cornette, Sisters Opal, Carol Cook, Kristin Lenz, Towana Pitts and son in laws Howard Whiteside and Doug Morgan.

She leaves behind Daughters Deneen Whiteside, Rose Morgan and Megan Grubb Hicks, grandchildren Waylon Morgan, Jenni (Richard) Vanhook, Zachary (Morgan) Whiteside, Kate, Hooper, Karley Hicks two great granddaughters Victoria Grace and Lyndee Hope Whiteside, several nieces and nephews, a brother-in-law Riley Cook and sister-in-law Dorothy Ford.

We would like to thank the Heartland Hospice Team for the compassion, care and gentleness they had for our mother and the wonderful support we received during the process. They are truly angles on Earth.

Funeral services will be held on Monday Feb 5, 2024, at 1:00PM at the Jeffersonville Church of Christ, 83 North Main Street, Jeffersonville Ohio 43128. With Zachary Whiteside officiating. Burial will be in the South Solon Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the church on Monday from 11 until time of services.
