Hazel Groom Long

Hazel J Grooms Long 90 of Jeffersonville, passed away Thursday December 7, 2023 at the Ohio State Medical Center, Columbus, where she had been a patient since November 13, 2023. Hazel was born in Fayette County to the late Sampson and Mary Huffman Grooms. Hazel was the owner of Long’s Dairy Bar in Jeffersonville for many years and recently retired from Walmart where she worked in the Deli.

Hazel is survived by her daughter Debbie (Dave) Gragg, granddaughters Mindy Jo (Jeff) Henderson of Virginia, Jamie Lynn (Kenny) Butler of Hillsboro Carrie Mitchell of Washington C.H. and grandson P.J. Mitchell of Wilmington; sisters Betty Joseph, Patti Locey and a brother Frank Grooms all of Washington C.H., brother John (Barbara) Grooms of Milledgeville; 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews; sister-in-law Marlyn Long and Judy (Ted) Craig.

In addition to her parents Hazel is preceded in death by her husband Neil Long in 2006, son Tony Grooms, sisters Mae Anderson, Pearl Hiser, Dora Mastin, Ilo “Pi” Jackson, Jo Edenfield, Lowella June Grooms and brothers Charles and Raymond Grooms

Funeral service will be held at the Jeffersonville Church of Christ, 83 North Main Street, Jeffersonville, Ohio, at 1:00 PM on Monday December 18, 2023 with Danny Dodds officiating. The burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the church on Monday from 11 until the time of service.
