Obituary

Imogene Smith May 31, 1941 – February 11, 2022 Imogene Smith, 80, of Jeffersonville, passed away on February 11, 2022, at her residence. She was born on May 31, 1941, in Wilmington, Ohio, to the late Chacy and Elva Ward Scott. Imogene leaves behind her husband, Pastor James Smith, Jr. She was a long-time member of the Fayette County Democratic Election Board, 1st Lady, Sunday School Clerk and choir member of First Baptist Church of Jeffersonville. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Judith Ann Ward, brothers, Johnny, Chacy, Farrell, Wayne Allen (Bucky), Gary Scott and brother-in-law, James Woodson. In addition to her husband, Imogene is survived by her children, Tonie (Charles) Hampton, Tia (Mark) Turner, Terina Smith, Toyia (J.R.) Watts, James A. Smith III, and Scott (Kim) Smith; a brother, Thomas Scott, a sister, Maxine (Harry) Gilham, a sister-in-law, Jerry Lee Woodson; grandchildren, Shawn (Julie) Hampton, Bradley Hampton, Brian (Christine) Hampton, Mark Turner II, Robin Turner, Jason Turner, Christian Smith, Dominique (Amy) Smith, Alexis Smith, Skyler Smith, Chacy Smith, Jr., Nia Michael, Bryce Smith, Sanaa Smith, Alysha Watts and Joshua Watts; 15 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 16, 2022, at the First Baptist Church, Jeffersonville, with Minister Charles Hampton officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Jeffersonville. Friends and family may call at the church on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
