Maxine A. Mossbarger (Bloom), age 87, passed away unexpectedly at her residence at Oakleaf Village in Columbus, Ohio, on Thursday, January 12, 2023. She is the daughter of the late Glenn and Cora (Emery) Bloom of Sugartree Ridge, Ohio.
She graduated from White Oak High School in 1953 in Mowrystown, Ohio. Following high school, she was employed by the Union Central Life Insurance Company in Cincinnati, Ohio. While employed, she was introduced to the love of her life Thomas Mitchell Mossbarger of Washington Court House, Ohio. After months of courting, they were married in Sugartree Ridge, Ohio, on Nov 8, 1959, followed by their honeymoon in Gatlinburg, Tennessee. The trip was so meaningful; they vacationed there annually for the rest of their lives through timeshare adventures.
Maxine enjoyed home-style cooking, weaving rugs on a loom, watching sports, hosting family gatherings, and special events with her church family. A notable mention is that she developed the Jackie Rutter Circle for the Ladies of the church, supporting foreign missionaries and state and local events, which is now in its 50th year.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Glenn and Cora Bloom, and her husband, Thomas M. Mossbarger. She is survived by son Timothy Mossbarger of Leesburg and daughter Mary Ruth Mossbarger of Worthington. Sister Arlene (Richard) Hauke, Larry Bloom, and Gary (Carol) Bloom, with multiple nieces, nephews, and five grandnieces and nephews. 3 Grandchildren: David (Amanda) Mossbarger, Ashley Harper, and Kayla Mossbarger of West Chester, Ohio. Five great-grandchildren: Colton, Preston, and Alaina Mossbarger; Patrick and Emily Harper.
The visitation is scheduled on Thursday, January 19th, from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM, followed by the 11:30 funeral service and luncheon at First Baptist Church of Washington Court House, 301 E. East St. Washington Court House, Ohio 43160. The funeral procession will commence at 1:15 PM at Greenfield Cemetery, Greenfield, Ohio.
