Obituary

Roger L Steen, 87 of Jeffersonville passed away peacefully, June 3, 2022 at 720 AM at his home after an extended illness since February 2022. He was born December 2, 1934 in South Solon to the late Frank and Alice Lewis Steen. In his younger years he was known as a South Solon Wildcat. He was a pround Veteran of the United States Navy serving from 1957- 1961 In 1961 he was hired on at General Motors in Dayton where he would retire in 1996. Roger was an Avid Hunter and Fisherman and enjoyed passin on his knowledge of the sports to his grandsons Waylon and Zack. After his retirement he enjoyed woodworking, gardening and sittinf on the front porch. Roger dedicated his whole life to his wife, girls, grandchildren and great granddaughter. Hw also was an Avid Trump Supporter, member of the NRA and a Fox news Buff. He met his wife Betty in May 1961 and they were married in July 1961. She was the love of his life and they were inseparable holding hands wherever they went.

In addition to his parents Roger is preceded in death by 2 son in laws Howard Whiteside and Doug Morgan, Sister Catherine Jordan, baby brother Cecil, Niece Pam Cox, Nephew Dwight Brown.

Leaving behind to cherish memories are his wife of 60 years Betty Cornette Steen, daughters Deneen Whiteside, Rose Morgan and Megan Grubb Hicks. Grandchildren Jenifer (Richard) VanHook, Waylon (Amanda) Morgan, Zachary (Morgan) Whiteside and great granddaughter Victoria Grace “his pride and Joy” sister Dorothy Ford and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday June 9, 2022 at the Jeffersonville Church of Christ. Viewing will take place on Wednesday from 4-8PM. Burial will be in the South Solon cemetery.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Promedica Hospice-Cathy Keaton, Tracy, Megan, Teresa and the Chaplin for all their compassion, kindness and wonderful care of our father.

Although he is missed terribly and our hearts are broken he will be remembered as the hard working man that loved even harder.
