Shirley Ann Newell

Shirley Ann Newell, 76 passed away at 4:15PM Saturday November 26, 2022 at Riverside Hospital, Columbus, Ohio, after a short stay with both of her daughters at her side. Shirley was born to the late Lewis and Mary Green Parrett in Columbus, Ohio on July 26, 1946. She is survived by her husband Jim Newell who she married on August 18, 1967. In addition to her husband Shirley is survived by her two daughters Jennifer and Brad Guthrie and Sara and Andrew DeSmidt; two grandsons Andrew and Adam Guthrie; sister Linda (Ed) Juillerat; sister-in-law Cheri Newell and nephews Todd Juillerat and Tony and Melissa Newell; nieces Krista and brad Allen and Tina Juillerat; great niece Piper Juillerat, Kassidy and Kortney Allen Chloe and Cleis Newell.

Shirley graduated from Miami Trace High School in 1964. After completing her secondary education, she spent most of her teaching career at Miami Trace. She was dedicated to her students and retired after a long, rewarding 35 year career.

Shirley touched the lives of many people. For her family, she was the rock, the center of the universe. She loved and was loved dearly. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. She will truly be missed and will never, ever be forgotten.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday December 3, 2022 at 1:00PM at the Bloomingburg Presbyterian Church with Pastor John Pfeifer officiating. Burial will be in the Washington Cemetery. Friends and family may call at the church from 11 until time of services.
