Shirley Ann Stockwell – June 5, 1932-April 3, 2022Shirley Ann Stockwell, Age 89, of Washington C.H. passed away peacefully on Sunday morning April 3, 2022 at Court House Manor where she had briefly resided.She was born June 5, 1932 in Madison County to Joseph John and Blanche Marie (Jordan) Taylor and was the 4th of five girls. Shirley was a 1950 graduate of South Solon High School where she was a cheerleader and valedictorian of her classShe married Marion Francis Stockwell on October 21, 1950 and was a devoted and loving farm wife until Marion's retirement in 1999. She then took care of him until his death on September 24, 2006. Shirley continued to strive to live independently until shortly before her eternal rest.She is survived by five children: Creg (Cheryl) Stockwell, Brenda (Pete) Pierce of Washington C.H.; Dean (Kelly) Stockwell and Ben (Molly) Stockwell of the Columbus area and Amy (John) Nestor of Washington C.H.; six Grandchildren: Brian (Monica) Pierce, David (Sarah) Pierce, Brandon (Colleen) Stockwell, Sarah (Clayton) Lane, Anna Nestor and Michael Berg. She is also survived by three Great Granddaughters: Lauryn, Camryn and Everleigh Pierce; Sisters Janice Spears and Maxine Grear; Sister-In-Laws, Becky Stockwell and Norine Cooper and many nieces and nephews.In addition to her husband and parents, Shirley was preceded in death by beloved grandson Derek Stockwell; sisters Phyllis Taylor and Katie Hisey and Father and Mother-In-Law Marvin and Esther Stockwell.Family was her world. One of her proudest achievements was helping to put all five of her children through college. She loved attending her grandchildren's events and being with family. Watching old television programs and movies were a favorite pastime, as well as reminiscing about growing up in South Solon.Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Friday, April 8th at the Jeffersonville United Methodist Church, where she was a member for many years, and the funeral will take place on Saturday, April 9th at 10 a.m. also at the church with Rev. Tom Knauff officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery.Gifts in Shirley's memory maybe made to her favorite charities, the Jeffersonville United Methodist Church, 13 E.
